I grew up in an epoch when every problem had a solution. As the new Church of Science consolidated its grip, we were told to shut up and calculate. Unaware that the art of understanding had been going to seed for ages, most of us heeded the call.

I am old enough to recall a proclamation nailed to the Church door that subatomic particles were indivisible. Much like theologians of old, the prophets claimed that there is a threshold, over which we cannot pass; that to try is a waste of time. Had we lived in less enlightened times, any attempt to do so would doubtless have been forbidden. The new Church failed to provide any real understanding of what lay beyond the mathematical facade of modern physics. Later, some brave heretics ushered in the idea of quarks, an idea that is now under siege by the String Order in a fierce battle fought with equations. The soldiers of both armies appear lost in the fog of advanced mathematics.

The Primal Code, as you may have gathered, is not a mathematical theory, to be slotted into the great edifice of reverse engineering that is the Standard Model of particle physics. The Primal Code builds a Universe from the bottom up, using nothing but conceptual logic. It has the attributes of a theory in terms of precise principles, but without the representation of complex equations. The logic of the Primal Code is based on the reality of its hard-coded coordinates, albeit marked by an underlying uncertainty. It is not abstract in nature like 'mathematical' models that may or may not be describing reality. The code exclusively yields actual 'functioning' structures and interactions in real, specific environs.

As a boy, the night sky revealed to me a sparkling chain of material systems with a curious quality; the 'higher' systems were made up of fewer building blocks than the 'lower' systems in a relation that could be put as (units2)2. Thus galaxy clusters had (units2)2 fewer galaxies than galaxies had suns, while the largest galaxies had (units2)2 fewer suns than a sun had nuclei. From our suns 1057 subatomic particles, the (units2)2 unit chain demanded that a proton must be composed of 10228 globular structures, an enormous number. I assumed that there was one further link to this chain, an end link made up of 10912 primal atoms. This is where I started my logical journey; at the barest beginning, and with nothing. I think it would be a mistake to let this childish thought die on the vine. Nevertheless, I underestimated its complexity, which has weighed heavily on my life.

It takes less than twenty pages of sparse text to lay out the simple logic of the Primal Code. This is the heart of the matter. All the rest is a conceptual and more carefree illustration of the Universal chain; a work in progress. I have cleared the main hurdles of the first and second links (primal atoms and mattrons), and am now working of the third link of hydrons; our ordinary nuclei. The Primal Code takes you from a beginning of 'nothing'; a zero space beyond logic, one step at a time. So why then does the austere trail of The Primal Code lead to an Universe entirely like our own? - Is The Primal Code too good to be true? - Can it be wishful thinking? - Is my pink elephant really a hallucination? I must confide that I have not shirked the question. Many of its claims are incompatible with the scientific consensus of our times. This, I am disheartened to say, is also true of pink elephants. The heartening bit is that that The Primal Code makes many predictions that can be tested, and therefore leave it wide open for attacks. It takes a serious effort to believe in pink elephants.
