The engaging thriller Posttraumatic has a less fractured story line than Asgard Park. The main reason is that I kept myself on the straight and narrow by initially writing it as a movie script with little more than hundred pages to deliver story and dialogue. This gave me tight structure that did not allow me to stray from the premise. First thereafter, I wrote the novel. And what a breathtaking, lean, mean, tongue in cheek story the thriller Posttraumatic turned out to be.

Posttraumatic by Ronald Simonar is a suspenseful thriller novel with an intense plot and a decisive protagonist. The story follows Dr. Caroline Glyn, a medical professor who lost her husband to a brain tumor. Since then, she has been obsessed with finding cancer-causing cells. Being a widow and a mother of a 5-year-old daughter named Mary drives her to work harder to achieve her goal. However, things change when her daughter befriends a girl named Krupskaya. While the friendship was innocent, Caroline had no idea that this friendship was all planned. Before she can get hold of her bearings, there is a murder, an unexplained incident, and Mary is kidnapped. Caroline has already lost her husband Robert and she is unwilling to lose her daughter too. What will Caroline do to save her daughter from forces that are far more powerful than her?
Traditionally written with a very unique approach, Posttraumatic is a pleasure to read and reread until you become one with the pages. The idea of the story is fantastic and its execution even better. Caroline is the kind of protagonist that you feel an emotional connection with and root for until the end. Author Ronald Simonar paces the story just right and slowly but surely introduces the conflict into the story before smacking readers with intense suspense and drama to make them sweat. I was completely absorbed in the story, looking for clues, and hoping for answers that would unfold the mystery even a little bit. The addition of the Russian mafia and crooked cop felt as much a part of the story as the FBI agents did. I loved the dialogues, the intensity of the plot, and the action. I will not be surprised if the story becomes a movie or a TV series in the future because Caroline is the type of protagonist that people will love. The cinematic quality of the story is off the charts. I loved it!

Posttraumatic is a work of fiction in the thriller, suspense, and murder mystery subgenres. It is intended for the general adult reading audience and was penned by author Ronald Simonar. This multi-layered and multi-genre story takes us through several fascinating and mind-bending incidents in the life of protagonist Dr. Caroline Glyn, a woman who thinks her only fight at the start of the novel is against the beast we call cancer. But when she meets a young Russian girl who is the spitting image of her own young daughter, Caroline’s world descends into supernatural madness, murder, and political intrigue that it will take all her fortitude to weather and overcome.
I love stories that are hard to pin down to just one genre, and author Ronald Simonar has crafted one of those tales that you can hardly describe to friends, other than to say that they simply must read it. There was so much going for such a concise and fast-paced novel, with plenty of interesting twists and new layers from the different genre styles mashing together wonderfully. Another feature of the novel that I truly enjoyed on a deeper level was the characterization of Caroline and her experience of posttraumatic stress, which was heartfelt and intricately portrayed with a keen sense of the realities of this debilitating emotional state. Overall, Posttraumatic is an ideal read for thriller fans seeking an action-packed story with plenty of fascinating mystery, tense thrills, and an authentic emotional core that will certainly steal your heart, as it did mine.

Posttraumatic by Ronald Simonar is a story of not-so-chance meetings. Dr. Caroline Glyn spends her days hunting down the genes that cause cancer after losing her husband to a brain tumor. The rest of her time is devoted to Mary, her five-year-old daughter, who has made a new friend at kindergarten – Krupskaya. Although the friendship is real, it has long been manipulated into happening, But when Caroline is introduced to Krupskaya’s father, a “relic” from the Cold War, things take a sinister turn. Murder and a strange incident follow before Mary is kidnapped but her daughter is all she has left and Caroline will not lose her to anyone. Can she save her daughter? Can she fight the most powerful forces in the world?

This is one story that deserves every ounce of your attention, with its tense, thrilling plot and the many twists and turns the story takes you on. A real page-turner, this is an edge-of-your-seat thriller, a unique story that will take you on a journey you will never forget. Well-paced, it has plenty of drama, action, and suspense and the main character is one you will connect with on all levels, a strong female lead with a “mama bear” attitude. Crooked officials, the Russian Mafia, and one woman determined to beat them all to get her daughter back is a tale that could very well have the makings of a hit movie.
